I recently went to a wonderful networking event with regional colleagues in Boston that was hosted by Sabrina Woods and the Career Counselors’ Consortium Northeast.
Meeting people I had only known over LinkedIn or email was so nice. When you are in a room with people who share a vocation, wow, is there a lot to talk about!
One breakout conversation facilitated by Laurie Stickels, (Thanks, Laurie!), focused on One Way (Asynchronous) Interviews. One way interviews are technology based and are increasingly taking the place of the more standard ‘Phone Screening’. With a one way interview, the candidate is invited to respond to and submit recorded answers to questions that are delivered through an app or website. (For more info, see this article: https://lnkd.in/gC6iXjrS). If they pass this step, the candidate will be invited for ‘live’ interview.
Check out the video below on tips to prepare. I heard from those who’ve been interviewed this way, and those who use one way interviews in hiring, that each app might be slightly different, so you should find out how your interview will work. Some offer the opportunity to redo answers, while others do not, for example. To maximize your ability to ‘perform’, become as comfortable with the system before you initiate the interview.
Good luck!
