Why Do We Offer Employee Career Care Benefit?
Attracting candidates is challenging. Once hired, workers evaluate their commitment continuously with an eye to a better offer.
When workforce needs fluctuate, the competition for scarce talent willing to work on a seasonal or contract basis is challenging. Offering benefits to support employees at the end of a season or a contract can provide the incentive for them to join your organization and to come back again, season after season.

What is the Employee Career Care Benefit?
Career coaching at the termination of employment, or outplacement, has traditionally been an expensive service afforded only for higher level employees. The Employee Career Care Benefit changes that. We deliver job search and career planning services to all employees. The result is a much more efficient and less stressful transition from one seasonal job to the next and an increased likelihood the employee will return to the original employer for the next year’s season.
How does the Employee Career Benefit work?
- The Employee Career Care Benefit is offered to the employee as part of the benefit package.
- Upon termination*, employees are provided with the contact information for HMS Career Coaching. Simultaneously, our team receives notification of the eligibility of the employee from you.
- We assign a coach to the employee.
- The coach contacts the employee to schedule an intake call to kick off the Career Care program. See included services below. We make several attempts to engage each eligible employee. Our goal is 100% participation.
- We deliver the package of services to completion.
- Once an employee has been provided with all of the Career Care services, we ask for feedback and provide you with a detailed, quantitative evaluation of our services on behalf of your employees.

Intake Call
- Coach gains understanding of the employee’s situation, needs and goals.
- Coach explains service and next steps.
Group Workshop
- Within the framework below, our services will be highly customized for the needs of each employee, including assignment of the best-fit coach and resume writer.
Customized Program
- Within the framework below, our services will be highly customized for the needs of each employee, including assignment of the best-fit coach and resume writer.
Resume Update
- Based on input from the employee, a trained resume writer delivers an updated resume.
Two Coaching Calls
- Coach is available for two coaching calls to guide and advise the employee toward achieving the goals set in the intake call. Our professional service areas include the following:

- Job Search and Networking Strategies
- Interview Preparation
- Negotiating Coaching
- Coaching Through the Emotional Impact of Career Transition
- A customized program and resources for each employee so the value of the program is personally relevant and continues once the coaching engagement is completed.
Service Evaluation
- Participants will be asked for detailed feedback regarding the value they received from the service. This information will be transparently shared with the employer.
